YOUR BOWLING CLUB IS ‘ON A ROLL’.
As Summer gives way to Autumn, the nights start to draw in, and our thoughts start to turn more to indoor pursuits; your local bowling club are able to reflect on what is turning out to be another excellent year.
Hurst Green Bowling Club continues to go from strength to strength. Our membership is growing steadily, and we are able to offer a wider selection of activities and facilities than ever before. In short – we are indeed ‘on a roll’.
The Club is now a hive of activity all year round. As the outdoor bowling season finishes, the indoor leagues start up, and we have several teams who compete for honours at every level throughout the year; from serious endeavours to perhaps a little more light-hearted fair. And for those who just fancy having the odd game with a few friends you could not find a nicer setting.
The pavilion is always busy with organised ‘Coffee Stops’ and regular ‘Catch Ups’ all year round. Whether you like table tennis, cards, dominos, board games or just a cup of tea and a natter then look no further (click on the Club Calendar link for the dates).
The bowling green itself is in excellent condition thanks to our dedicated staff and world class, automatic, sprinkler system; which we recently installed ourselves.
This year we have hosted several competitions, staged regional finals, and had our own fair share of success both at home and further afield. But more than anything else the club is a great place to be, and that is totally down to our wonderful members. We are an active bunch - we enjoy dinners out, stage regular quizzes, raise money for charity, etc etc. Whisper it but our Christmas ‘Gathering’ is already taking shape.
If you think you might like to join us - please come and give it a try. You will find our members keen to show you round and, if appropriate, give you a free lesson in bowling. Either just approach someone at the club. Membership is extremely competitive – just £35 a year for bowling members or £25 for purely social members.
With Best Wishes from all at HGBC.
NB – BOTH OUR PAVILION AND GREEN ARE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE AT VERY COMPETITIVE RATES. The pavilion comes with excellent kitchen facilities and holds up to 50 people. The bowling green can be hired either for half a day or for the full day. Call Gill Jacques for further details with regards to hiring the facilities – 07838 423974.
